Our history

Founded on February 16, 1978, Club Nautique is a non-profit organization. In the beginning, the organization planned and managed windsurfing activities. An explorer and entrepreneur at heart, Georges Mamelonet, founder of the Club Nautique, discovered the underwater beauties around the Cornu (a rock formation commonly known as “le Bilbo”) in Anse du Bilbo. The same summer, the underwater landscapes of the Baie des Marigots were also explored. Floating docks were soon set up there to organize diving trips and show the splendours of the region to the few divers who ventured there. A few years later, Club Nautique occupied the facilities of the Percé municipal pool. The Club’s activities included pool activities, windsurfing competitions, and a dozen scuba-diving sites. Over time, windsurfing activities were put aside, and kayaking trips were introduced. Today, Club Nautique concentrates solely on scuba diving activities on nearly twenty sites in the marine strip of the Parc national de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé.

Our mission

The Club’s mission is to promote scuba diving and to help people discover the exceptional fauna and flora of the marine strip of the Parc national de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé. At the time of its foundation, the Club’s objectives were to develop the art of diving, to encourage tourism and to bring together enthusiasts of this sport.
